Steel Base Adjustable Glides are also known as cushioned base adjustable glides, hex cup base adjustable glides, leveling feet, levelers, and adjustable feet.

As an economical adjustable furniture glide option, steel base furniture glides protect and prevent damage to hardwood floors and other surfaces. Well suited for office chairs, furniture glides are different than casters. Casters are wheels attached to the bottom of office chairs and furniture. Furniture glides are discs made of a variety of materials that allow your office chairs to move quietly across surfaces.

Steel Leveler Specifications

By turning the male stud, you adjust our Steel Base Adjustable Glides to level your unit on floors and surfaces.  The male stud is threaded into a female adaptor/nut typically attached to the bottom of a leg or base.

  • Non-swivel Steel Adjustable Feet have a male stud 90 degrees perpendicular to the flat bottom of the base.
  • Swivel Steel Base Adjustable Glides allow the stud to swivel between 3 degrees and 25 degrees variance from 90 degrees perpendicular to the flat bottom of the base depending upon the specific glide.

Stock male stud thread sizes include the following:

  • Stock English sizes: 8-32, 1/4-20, 5/16-18, 3/8-16, 3/8-24, 1/2-13
  • Non-stock English sizes: 6-32, 10-24, 10-32, 1/4-28, 5/16-24, 7/16-14, 7/16-20, 1/2-20, 5/8-11, 3/4-10, 1-8, 1-1/4-7 and others
  • Stock Metric sizes: None
  • Non-stock Metric sizes: M4, M6, M8, M10, M12, M16, M20, M24, M30, and others

Male stud lengths from 1/4” to 6” + and are typically zinc plated steel or 302-304 grade stainless steel.

Base Diameters

Base diameters from 9/16” to 6” + and are made of many materials including but not limited to:
Steel Bases: Zinc, Nickel and Chrome plated steel, 302-304 grade stainless steel.

Adjustable Steel Base Glide Styles

Ideal for volume orders, Steel Leveling Feet typically are mass-produced to offer an economical solution to your leveling needs. These glides are not load-rated. Consider your static load requirement, the maximum length of exposed stud length, and susceptibility to sideways force to determine the best Adjustable Glides for your application.

Cushioned Style

  • Non-Swivel only available with base diameters of 7/8”; 15/16”; 1-1/16” 1-1/4” and 1.45” with radiused edge and black HDPE Cushion

Low Silhouette Style

  • 1.19” OD Nickel Plated steel base and cover shell with an internal cushion

Hex Cup Style

  • Typically, a 1-3/8” OD Across Hex Flats Cup with 5/16” tall sidewall length with stud welded or assembled to the stud.
  • Only available as a Non-Swivel.

FBZ Style

This is a low-cost one-piece Steel Based Adjustable Feet made by forming a thin hex base from steel rod that is then threaded. 

  • The Hex Flats Base OD is 5/32” for 1/4-20 stud, 3/4” for 5/16-18 stud, 7/8” for 3/8-16 stud, and 1-1/16” for 1/2-13 stud. 
  • Gray elastomeric polyethylene snap-on caps are available to snap onto the base.

Kent Style

This Swivel Glide consists of a Carriage Bolt Encapsulated in a 1.69” OD steel base assembled to a steel cover shell; all zinc plated.  Also referred to as a “Rattle Glide” as the stud is loose in the assembly and will rattle when you shake the stud.

Steel Base Levelers

Steel Base Levelers are usually used for heavy-duty applications.  They are load-rated and typically made by a machining process.  Because of the wide variety of studs, base styles, and sizes they are typically not stocked but can be produced within 1-4 weeks of your order.
