We have a large selection of steel caster sockets, also referred to as caster inserts. They are designed to typically install into a hole in mild (carbon) steel work or inside a mild (carbon) steel tube end in round, square, rectangular and oval tube shapes. They attach a caster, typically using a caster stem.

We stock caster sockets that will accept a 7/16” OD (outside diameter) friction ring, also called grip ring stem, that range in length from 3/4” to 1 1/2”.  This stem is referred to as 7/16” FRS in our part descriptions.

Other caster sockets we stock accept other caster stems. These include7/16” OD X 1 7/8” long straight stem, 5/16” OD grip neckstem and female threaded opening in 1/4-20, 5/16-18, 3/8-16 and 1/2-13 thread sizes to thread a male threaded stem/stud into. For the threaded steel caster sockets, please see the steel threaded adaptors section. Any part with two heat-treated retaining clips should be able to be used as a caster socket. See our 1/2-13 threaded caster sockets with four retaining clips for super heavy-duty applications. Please inquire with your application to review. There are many non-stock parts that are available as well.

Steel caster sockets to accept the 7/16” OD friction ring stem or threaded stems typically consist of a zinc-plated steel platform and two heat-treated spring steel retaining clips assembled to a 7/16” ID (inside diameter) steel tube or threaded female steel nut. We stock parts to fit in from 7/8” to 2”+ OD tube and from 10 to 20 gauge tube. See our 1/2-13 threaded caster sockets with four retaining clips for super heavy-duty applications. Other sizes and English and Metric thread sizes are available. Inquire to install in materials other than mild (carbon) steel.
