Sled Base Glides

When using a metal-based sled chair in an industrial setting, it becomes a guarantee that people will scratch and damage hard-surface flooring as they slide and move the chair. Whether that flooring is hardwood, garden decking, or industrial floors, fixing and correcting that damage from metal sled bases can be costly and time-consuming. But, with Superior Components’ sled base glides, we can stop unsightly scratches and scrapes from happening at all.

Our sled base glides are typically used as a foot on sled base chairs featuring round metal or steel rods or tubes which run parallel to the floor. By attaching our glides—including adjustable glides, plastic glides, or plastic glides featuring felt bottoms—to a metal sled base chair, flooring remains protected.

Sizes of Sled Base Glides

At Superior Components, we offer two main types of sled base glides: glides with caster stems and glides without stems. Both types typically snap over the tube OD. We stock parts to fit on 5/8”, 3/4”, 7/8”, 1”, 1-1/8”, and 1-1/4” OD round tubes, providing a quiet environment and protecting floors from most metal sled base chairs in your industrial setting.

Sled Base Glides Material

Standard sled base glides attach to sled base chairs by snapping around the legs and fixing in place. They are typically made of plastic, and some have a felt bottom to better protect flooring. Easily replaced but permanently fitted, these glides will prolong the life of both the glide base chair and your hard flooring while eliminating noise from sliding chairs. Multiple options available.

Sled Base Glides with Stems

Sled base glides with caster stems serve the same purpose as the traditional sled base glide. Unlike their counterparts, glides with caster stems typically install the stem into a “punched” hole on the bottom face of the tube, leaving the part in a fixed position. Unlike stemless sled base glides, our stemmed glides come with adjustable glide options. Adjustable glides are ideal for various applications and are often used as feet to level furniture from many industries.

Caster stems can be added to almost any adjustable glide base. You can find our items in stock listed below as well as exploring our other glides options.
