Known as non-skid levelers or non-skid adjustable feet, our Plastic and Non-Skid Base Adjustable Glides consist of a threaded steel or stainless steel stud or molded into a base made of plastic or non-skid material. These plastic and non-skid bases are used as feet to level a large variety of industrial and commercial furniture.

We carry a large selection of in-stock Plastic and Non-Skid Base Adjustable Glide, with same-day and next-day shipping. We offer standard and custom components in a variety of materials, lengths, base diameters, and thread sizes.

Functionality of Plastic and Non-Skid Base Adjustable Glides

In general, Plastic Bases allow the unit they are installed in to slide on the floor surface while the Non-Skid Bases resist sliding on the floor surface. The non-skid ability can vary widely depending upon the floor surface, weight of the unit and other factors.  The Sliding and Non-Skid ability is indirectly related to the softness of the plastic or synthetic rubber. The softness can be measured by the Shore A Durometer of the base. A Shore A durometer of 100 or above should allow the unit to slide and at Shore A durometer of 90 or below is considered Non-Skid and will resist sliding the unit. Most Non-Skid bases are about 85 Shore A durometer.

  • The higher the number the harder the surface and should slide more easily.
  • The lower the number the softer the base and the more non-skid it should become.

Non-Skid and Plastic Base Adjustable Glide Specifications

  • Non-swivel Plastic and Non-Skid Base Adjustable Glides have a male stud 90 degrees perpendicular to the flat bottom of the base.
  • Swivel Plastic and Non-Skid Base Adjustable Glides allow the stud to swivel between 3 degrees and 25 degrees variance from 90 degrees perpendicular to the flat bottom of the base depending upon the specific glide.
  • By turning the male stud, you can adjust our Plastic and Non-Skid Adjustable Glides to level your unit on floors and surfaces.

In-Stock Plastic and Non-Skid Base Glide Options

  • Molded on Style. The plastic/non-skid base is molded onto the threaded stud.  These come in a wide variety of shapes, diameters, base thicknesses including Cushioned Style, Knurled Style “Bottle Cap”, Samson Style, Hex, Octagon and Tear Drop Shaped and others used in light to heavy duty applications.
  • Windsor Style. This assembled style base has an attractive curved top base surface that comes in 1-1/8" 1-3/8" and 1-11/16" base diameters.  They are designed for light to medium duty applications.
  • Monaco Style. The same as Windsor Style but with a decorative steel cover shell on the top of the base typically with bright nickel plating.
  • Yukon Style. This assembled style base is our most popular Adjustable Glide Base Style.  It has a steel cover shell typically bright nickel plated with a vertical side wall that holds the base in place and has the same dimeter as the cover shell.  They come in 1”, 1-3/8”, 1-11/16" 2" and 2-3/16" base diameters.  They are designed for medium to heavy duty applications.
  • Jupiter Style. Similar to the Yukon Style except the base OD is 1.70” with the cover shell OD 2.10".  This is far less popular than the Yukon Style.
  • Olympic Style. Also similar to the Yukon Style except it has a 2-1/2” diameter nylon base with 1-11/16” diameter, typically nickel plated, steel cover shell.  This is the most cost effective large base Adjustable Glide style.

Plastic Base and Non-Skid Base Material Options

Base diameters from 1/2” to 6” + and are made of many materials including but not limited to:
Plastic Base Materials
Low, Medium and High Density Polyethylene, Polypropylene, Clear K-Resin, Clear Polycarbonate, Nylon, Glass Filled Nylon, Super Tough Nylon, POM (Polyoxymethylene).
Non-Skid Base Materials
 PVC (Vinyl), TPR (Thermoplastic Rubber)

Material Option Chart

Material Description
Polyethylene, Low, Medium and High Density, also referenced as “Poly” or “PE”
  • the most popular and economical base plastics that perform well under normal conditions.  The higher the density, the better the durability and easier the bases slide on the floor with most bases being Medium to High Density Polyethylene.
Polypropylene also referenced as “PP”
  • performs similarly to High Density Polyethylene but is a less popular plastic base material.
Clear K-Resin
  • a hard glass clear plastic used where an economical clear base is required.
Clear Polycarbonate
  • a harder more durable glass clear plastic than K-resin where a heavy duty clear base is required.
Nylon also referenced as Polyamide and “PA”
  • a harder plastic than Polyethylene or Polypropylene and has better durability and easier sliding base.
Glass Filled Nylon also referenced as “GFN”
  • has fiberglass fibers molded into the nylon.   It has similar performance as Nylon with higher tensile strength rivaling that of steel.  This base material is used in highly demanding applications.
Super Tough Nylon also referenced as “STN”
  • the best nylon to use as a base.  It has the best physical properties in all categories.  This base material is used in highly demanding applications.
POM (Polyoxymethylene) also referenced as Acetal
  • similar physical properties as Super Tough Nylon and enhanced lubricity used on some bases that are molded onto ball studs on some Adjustable Swivel glides.
PVC (Vinyl) also referenced as Poly Vinyl Chloride
  • It is softer than plastic bases and is an economical rubber like material resisting sliding on floor surfaces.
TPR (Thermoplastic Rubber)
  • used for Non-Skid Bases and typically has more rigidity with the same Non-Skid Ability than PVC.

Differences between Plastic and Non-Skid Base Adjustable Glides and Levelers

  • Plastic and Non-Skid Base Adjustable Glides. They are typically are mass produced as to offer an economical solution to your leveling needs.  These glides are not load rated.  Consider your static load requirement, maximum length of exposed stud length and susceptibility to sideways force to determine the best Plastic/Non-Skid Base Adjustable Glides for your application.
  • Plastic and Non-Skid Base Levelers. Ideal for heavy duty applications.  They are load rated and typically made by a machining process.  Because of the wide variety of studs, base styles, and sizes they are typically not stocked. We can produce non-skid or plastic levelers within 1-4 weeks of your order.
